Passenger journeys continue to increase

The total number of passenger journeys in Great Britain increased 5.0% in 2013/14 to 1.332 billion (2012/13: 1.269 billion) according to the ORR.

Passenger journey numbers carried entirely within one of the 11 main regional areas – London, Scotland, Wales, East Midlands, East England, North East, North West, South East, South West, West Midlands and Yorkshire & Humberside – grew  by 5.9% from 847.8 million to 897.9 million journeys.

Passenger journey numbers between different regions increased by 3.2% from 421.3 million to 434.8 million.
